The Cosmetic Redress Scheme (CRS) advisory panel met for the first time since the launch of the scheme at the Houses of Parliament. The panel includes representatives of major organisations within the cosmetic industry, including Paul Burgess (BACN), Amy Senior (PIAPA), Paul Charlson (BCAM), Emma Davies (SaveFace) and Lorna Jackson (Consulting Room). The panel is chaired by Lord Monroe Palmer. Other members include Greg Williams (BAHRS) and Chris Inglefield (plastic surgeon).
The main focus of the meeting was to set out the scope of the remit of the new scheme, which will only deal with service related complaints made by consumers of its members. An essential aim of the scheme is to help practitioners to establish a good internal complaints procedure. In the meeting, the members also finalised the terms of reference of the new scheme, which can be viewed on the website.
The role of the Advisory panel is to hold the Head of Redress, Sean Hooker to account, review complaint statistics and to promote the CRS. Accordingly, in the meeting the members discussed how best to promote the scheme through the professional organisations they represent, including the BACN and PIAPA. A core focus of the new scheme is to help improve standards in the industry and all members present expressed their dedication to this aim.
After the meeting, the members enjoyed a tour of the Houses of Parliament given by their chairman Lord Monroe Palmer.
